I can confirm the behavior on my IBM ThinkCentre 8171-YC3. 1. Boot with USB Flash drive inserted: Drive seen and operational, desktop icon present, device seen as /dev/sdb and /dev/sdb1, mounted at /media/<drive name> 2. Eject, remove USB Flash drive and reinsert: Single "blip" on USB Flash drive LED then nothing. Not seen in lsusb, no icon on desktop, no /dev/sdb nor /dev/sdb1.
