David: I doubt Ubuntu is going to do this transition until Debian does. Why don't you do a sync+patch instead? i.e. the latest weechat without build-depending on tcl-dev >= 8.5.
A changelog like * Sync from Debian experimental (LP: #667812) * Revert BD on tcl-dev >= 8.5, Ubuntu hasn't transitioned yet. would be appropriate.
