Public bug reported: Hi,
I can't use Ubuntu since the 10.04 realease becouse it freezes randomly on my computer. Doesn't matter what I'm doing (reading email, surfing webpages, writing on office). I can say that it doesn't if I'm not in front of the computer and I'm actively using it. So, it means that I can copy 40gb of data and it does it correctly... but I'm in front of it, moving mouse or keybord, it freezes. I did the memtest more than once and everithing is ok. The alimentation is ok, too (I don't know how to call it in english, but I use the device with the battery inside to avoid problem with alimentation). Now, other thing: when the 10.04 was released I started to use debian lenny and for six months I hadn't any problem. Now, when the 10.10 was released and I had the same problem, I tryed to upgrade lenny to squeeze... debian started to freezes, too. Six months of lenny I think that are enough to exclude that mine is an hardware problem. Or maybe the new kernel or some programs use my hardware in a non supported way... I don't know. For sure I can say that debian squeeze freezes less than ubuntu: with debian it happen once a day, with ubuntu once an hour. Please, let me know if I can help you to fix this annoying problem. :( Bye ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: linux-image-2.6.35-22-generic 2.6.35-22.33 Regression: Yes Reproducible: No ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
