Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy
When a subscription request for Jabber is received, the dialog reads "Subscription requested by <Contact name>". Without understanding of Jabber, this is very confusing as to what it's asking. When I received this I was unsure if this meant that <Contact> wanted to add me as a contact, or if there was some other jabber technology in use. The text should be reworded to be friendlier. Since jabber subscriptions are to presence rather than purely the ability to communicate, maybe the dialog should read ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | (x) Subscription request from Alex Launi | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Alex Launi would like permission to see when you are available. | | | | [Do not allow] [Allow] | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: empathy 2.32.0.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Nov 2 20:56:37 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: empathy ** Affects: empathy Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick ubuntu-une -- Jabber subscription request dialog is too difficult to understand for non-technical users https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
