Same goes for messages like:

The authentication method CRAM-MD5 is not supported by the server.

You can go on for hours clicking "Ok" after receiving the error, and
then hitting cancel at the login prompt, and then hitting "Ok" again
after receiving the error, etc. I ended up killing kmail and editing the
config file with vi.
