** Description changed: This is a new problem, since a recent upgrade (I think that an upgrade of the cupsys package was responsible - but it may have been smb- common). Printing from Ubuntu to a shared HP printer on a Windows XP box, using - the samba protocol now fails. It fails also witch Printes who shared - with IPP. The printing icon is displayed temporarily, but no output from - the printer. There is no entries in /var/log/cups/error_log relating to - this error. + the samba protocol now fails. It fails also with printers that are + shared with IPP. The printing icon is displayed temporarily, but no + output from the printer. There is no entries in /var/log/cups/error_log + relating to this error. When the printer is connected directly to the ubuntu box (and the settings changed to reflect the new connection of the printer) printing works perfectly. Using cupsys v1.2.1-0ubuntu2 and smb-common v3.0.22-1ubuntu3.1 May be a WORKAROUND: DOWNGRADE cupsys 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06 -> 1.2.0-0ubuntu5, and my HP 4L who shared with IPP under Debian Sarge runs again.
