Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio
`aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav` sounds great but `parole /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav` sounds trashy. I was good in 10.04, now every ding, every video, every talk I try to watch sounds trashy. (like interference sound) Using up-to-date Xubuntu 10.10 $ uname -a Linux compaq 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 $ dmesg | grep HDA [ 11.028079] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0 [ 11.028149] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0 [ 11.028166] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [ 11.028285] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: irq 47 for MSI/MSI-X [ 11.028324] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: setting latency timer to 64 [ 11.260248] input: HDA Intel Mic at Ext Front Jack as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input9 [ 11.260396] input: HDA Intel HP Out at Ext Front Jack as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input10 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: pulseaudio 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
