Suspend/Hibernate don't work with Nouveau driver for me either. GPU lockup message appears upon resume from suspend usually.
Resume from Hibernate yields garbage graphics display and lockup. I have Nvidia Quadro NVS 50 video card and using Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick).
