Update: After a bit of research I have confirmed that this bug is not related to Ubuntu, but to most new ditros running the 2.6.20 kernel. As I suspected the problem is related to the HP bios which is 'a bit problematic' when it comes to linux. Anyway when I have updated the bios from F.06 to F.0B [newest at this time] the problem ceased to occur and the laptop is able to shutdown or reboot properly. My suggestion is to put this in the official Faisty documentation as HP NX6310 bug and strongly suggest preforming the update before installing Faisty. If the update is preformed after faisty is installed, the system have trouble setting up the system clock, and the boot up takes about 10 sec longer then usual.
