I have the same symptoms. Both Firefox and java processes are in the "futex_wait_queue_me" state. It usually recovers after 20-30 seconds. It usually happens right after starting Firefox, but sometimes also during normal use. I'm on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10, newly installed and fully updated.
