re: md5sum: Verified the md5sum of Xubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64.iso is
c1747b3760ae9886f679facb28fd0e98, matching the md5sum included above.
Validated the .iso file on windows via winMd5Sum. I'm unable to check
the CD at this time, but will check tonight when I get home.

However, I'm seeing that yes, the speaker was muted. I had to select
controls for the HDA Intel (Alsa Mixer) and Playback: Internal Audio
Analog Stereo (PulseAudio Mixer) to discover the PulseAudio was muted.
Not sure why that flipped, but I'll watch for it in the future.

Fabio, you've been awesome, and I appreciate your help. Sorry to have
taken all your time. I'll see if I can't dig through my logs and figure
out why some applications are attempting to start without the files -
but why would gnome-power-manager attempt to start under xubuntu with
xfce-power-manager installed? problem for another bug I guess. Again,
thank you.
