Public bug reported:

Before yesterday everything worked fine: I could simply import photos from my
Canon EOS 400D. When I connected the camera to my PC the usual dialog pops up
that asks me with which application I would like to import my photos.
However since yesterday this stopped working. When I connect the camera nothing
happens. However the camera is recognized by GThumb and F-Spot. But when I want
to import the photos via one of these applications I get the following error:
"An error occurred in the io-library ('Unspecified error'): No error
description available"

dmesg output:

The day before yesterday I installed GThumb because I prefer that
application over F-Spot. That day everything worked just fine. Yesterday
(so after a reboot) it stopped working, out of nothing.

Please let me know if I have to do some tests to find out the cause of
this problem.
