I installed ubuntu on 4 different machines, 2 notebooks, 2 desktops. 2 are affected by this bug (Both Maverick, one upgraded, one freshly installed), 2 are not. The affected machines have (Intel) Dual Core CPUs, the non-affected have (AMD) Single Cores. Maybe it's about slow vs. fast/multi-core systems?
