I think it's not a nvida-related problem. I have a ATI Radeon HD4650 and the issue is the same: youtube video are stuttering even in small size with compiz enabled, with a lot use of cpu, while without compiz they run smoothly even in fullscreen. My system: Debian Squeeze, 1 GB RAM, Pentium 4 2.6 GHz, ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 4650. I forced XAA 2D acceleration in xorg.conf since a known bug in Firefox with proprietary ATI 2D acceleration.
