This sudo lpadmin -p DocuPrint-N4512 -E -v file:/dev/lp0 does not make it work better. The printer begins to warm-up as before but it doesn;'t begint to print after 1 hour. One result is that with file:/dev/lp0 I cannot print from OpenOffice even a page with just 'test' on it, which at least worked before. I took out "FileDevice Yes" from cupsd.conf and the printer is back at parallel:/dev/lp0.
By the way, I am not sure what triggered this, but I noticed earlier (before adding FileDevice and changing lpstat, cups would change the printer from a local printer to a network printer with the uri file:/dev/lp0, and then I also was not able to print even the short test page from OpenOffice. There has to be a solution to this!
