As far as I can tell, this has been fixed in the latest packages. I followed these steps: -wiped off my laptop with a complete reformat (I had to shift some partitions around anyway) -installed Dapper from the CD -updated all packages using apt-get -installed all of my normal programs -installed my printer, using the drivers on the CD
