Public bug reported: Trying to play a DVD on my HP Pavliion laptop, results in a Can't read the disk error (In Danish "Der opstod en fejl Kunne ikke læse fra ressource" translates to something link "An error occured, Could not read from ressource"). I tried with several DVD's and non work. I also tried to do the same from my dual boot win7 installation, and the same DVD's work just fine in Win7, on the same computer. Also I had no problems playing the disks before upgrading to Ubunto 10.10 from the previous version.
