The problem appears to have been corrected. I have been unable to make it
fail.

Thank you for all your work.

Jon

Subject: [Bug 577262] Re: Total system hang soon after unplugging laptop
charger.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on
Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with
that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Compaq CG61-420US laptop. Happens reliably. Problem is new with Ubuntu i386
10.04. Is fine in 9.10.
If I "End Process" on Gnome Power Manager, I can unplug without crashing.

Can get no response from machine after crash--no SSH access from outside, no
ctrl-alt-F1, etc.
Mouse indicator frozen. Only recourse is power-off.

Happens on 2 different new installations of 4/29 release, also on RC.

Bios Hewlett Packard ver. F.10; date 10/15/2009; not up-to-date, must reboot to
upgrade.
