I tried 1.8.0 (from PPA) yesterday, it works "better" in the sense, that it comes back after a few minuted with feedback, that some RSS feed could not be updated, and after that gets back into 100% CPU unresponsive state.
I thought, that if I start with a fresh DB and add RSS feeds manually (why there is no bulk subscription available?) everything goes well. Sorry, it is still unusable. It looks as if every network access needed at least a minute of 100% CPU time (on T500)... that is a joke. After trying to use banshee for a few years (since 1.3) I gave up.
