Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

Problem: When choosing one of the WinXP partitions in the boot menu and
pressing Enter, WinXP fails to boot with 'autochk' not found. When
selecting the same entry in the boot menu, pressing 'e' and in the edit
mode just pressing CRTL+x without modifying anything, the boot succeeds.
This is always reproducible.

Partition layout:
hd0,msdos1: WinXP 1
hd0,msdos2: WinXP 2
hd0,msdos3: Data for WinXP 2

hd0,msdos 1 and hd0,msdos2 are exclusive, one of those two partitions
needs to be hidden. hd0,msdos3 should only be usable in WinXP 2,
therefore gets hidden when WinXP 1 is going to be booted.

What puzzles me is that the same configuration works when using the edit
mode, but fails when choosing the entries in the boot menu directly. No
matter which of the two WinXP installations I choose to boot, the
problem is the same.

/boot/grub/grub.cfg is attached.
