Public bug reported: I was running 10.04 and had fglrx installed. I upgraded to 10.10, but was greeted with a blank screen after reboot. I booted into a recovery shell and tried to remove the fglrx package, but it would not let me. Finally found the solution was to remove some diversions by hand. Full ordeal is documented here:
