I just did a clean install of ubuntu 10.10 and here's how I got Gwibber
working.

Go to System: Administration: System Monitor. Kill everything with
Gwibber in the name. Wait for the gwibber-service zombies to die out.
(5ish seconds)

Run: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwibber-daily/ppa; sudo apt-get update;
sudo apt-get upgrade

The above will update to the newest gwibber client, which is much newer
then Ubuntu ships.

Run: sudo gedit /etc/hosts

Find the entry showing 127.0.1.1 and change to 127.0.0.1

Save your file.

in command line (very important) run gwibber. It'll throw a few messages
but ignore them. The gwibber screen to add an account will come up. Add
the facebook account. You will now hav0.1.1 and change to 27.0.0.1e your
save button after the account was authorised. Save the account. Now the
gwibber main screen will show up, and you should see your facebook
entries.
