Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Hi everyone, Initially have filled in this bug report on KDE bug tracking system but they've redirected me here and also said that "X is crashing" (KDE bug id 52398), So here it is the story again: Using Kubuntu Maverick (10.10) with stock KDE 4.5.1 and current nvidia driver (260.19.06). Works OK with one monitor but the moment I enable xinerama in an attempt to set up dual head config, I can no longer get to the desktop - it crashes with segmentation fault just after the "K" letter is shown. For a split second both monitors come to life (so it loads quite a bit before giving up). Without xinerama, I can even enable 2 monitors with nvidia-setting - although not much use for such a config since one monitor is blank (but I can move the mouse on it so I know it's working). However, the moment I turn xinerama on ... kabooom ! I am writing this bug report with Xinerama tunred off - I am not sure whether ubuntu-bug -p xorg works in the absence of X (console mode) but I will try. I will try to append the xorg.conf file as well. xxx...@andromeda:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 xxx...@andromeda:~$ xx...@andromeda:~$ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status xx...@andromeda:~$ Thank you for all your help.
