Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
Ubuntu 10.4 LTS
Linux home 2.6.32-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 17 20:05:27 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux
The update-manager told me I had some updates (12), including coreutils,
libgksu2-0, libgssapi-krb5-2, libk5crypto3, libkrb5-3, libkrb5support0,
and libssl0.9.8. When I clicked on "install", it died with a message
about "closed unexpectedly" and asked me if I wanted to report the
problem. When I said "yes" to report the problem, it unhelpfully told me:
The problem cannot be reported: You have some obsolete package
versions installed. Please upgrade the following packages and check
if the problem still occurs: coreutils, libgksu2-0, libgssapi-krb5-2,
libk5crypto3, libkrb5-3, libkrb5support0, libssl0.9.8
Silly program! The whole reason I'm running update-manager is to update
these programs!
I did a "check updates", it found four more updates (total 16 now),
and when I said "Install" this time, it worked.
