It is nice to finally get some attention.. =) Well, I tried a lot of things before giving it up. I tried compiling ALSA myself, upgrading, the million options the intel driver has, all without a complete success.
This is the current situation: 1. the soundcard is detected from time to time. 2. Sound from Totem or from browser never worked reliable, i.e., worked for a minute and then it would stop working. 3. Nowadays, sometimes I hear the sound from the sound theme but Totem doesn't work yet.
