I've been testing the 2.6.31-22-generic kernel (from Karmic) on my Maverick install, up to now I've *not* observed a single poweroff. I'll update this bug in a few days to confirm it really works with that kernel. (the only issue is that the internal microphone doesn't seem to work with that kernel).
