I just compared the speed in up-to-date Lucid Lynx, in Jaunty Jackalope
used by live-CD (and also Windows XP). Interestingly, there was no
difference!
So, it has to be concluded that this issue was due to some unknown
problems within the ISP (TeliaSonera or likely just the Finnish branch
Sonera) itself. The "customer service" did not comment this issue a year
ago... What a waste of time!
