I have just tried the beta of Ubuntu netbook on a couple of netbooks and it is completely unusable. It starts out well but within five minutes or so clicking on things causes long periods of disk activity before anything happens. Looking with top mutter is comsuming CPU when seemingly nothing else is happening and has a large amount of virtual memory mapped so I suspect this may be the culprit, especially reading the above. Any news on this one?
