Binary package hint: pulseaudio
I've been using Gmail's video chat feature very smoothly on my Ubuntu
10.4 laptop (Dell Studio 1558). However, my microphone stopped working
two days ago: when video chatting, both I and my friend could see each
other and I could hear her. However, she could not hear me. (Also, when
I went to "alsamixer" in the terminal, I saw that my "Speaker" volume
was all the way down). I checked under "Sound Preferences", and found
the my microphone hardware was no longer being detected: there is no
input device to choose from.
