I have to allocate money and upgrade the machine's cd-rom drive. like I said, it's an old windows 98 box. I will let you know when I can get this upgraded.
I don't like this, since I just finished installing and updating ubuntu and a installing a lot of needed software to make it usable and it took a week of constant uptime or more. some first couple of updates would cause me to need to use gparted to check the filesystem and apply (fix it). now things are fine. after the last update, the shutdown screen changed. now the background behind the 4 dots is no longer graphic, but text. personally I think this is an improvement. but it still doesn't say "turn off" yet. If you are sure you still want me to zap my OS, then OK. you are right, those are not cd's, those are DVD's. I think I can get a used DVD-ROM for $5 from a computer recycling center. -- no-ACPI win98 box shuts down, leaves 4 dots screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/643318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
