Same here. Does this problem also appear on other distros or is it Ubuntu-specific? Any clue on what may be causing this? I've had this problem for about a year now on different systems, but wasn't able to determine what the source. I only noticed that the lockups aren't as long on another system of mine, where I don't have as many fonts installed. Maybe this is related to font caching in some way ...
