** Description changed: 1) Ubuntu 10.10 2) The sound system in general (not sure if it's pulse, alsa, etc.) I just upgraded from 10.04 to the 10.10 Beta. In doing so, I've completely lost sound. When I got to the sound preferences, under the Hardware tab there are no devices listed. I get the following when I run lspci: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 03) and this when I run sudo lshw -C sound *-multimedia description: Audio device product: 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 1b bus info: p...@0000:00:1b.0 version: 03 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list configuration: driver=HDA Intel latency=0 resources: irq:46 memory:b0000000-b0003fff + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23. + Architecture: i386 + ArecordDevices: + **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog] + Subdevices: 1/1 + Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: freefal 1566 F.... pulseaudio + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xb0000000 irq 45' + Mixer name : 'Analog Devices AD1981' + Components : 'HDA:11d41981,10140597,00100200' + Controls : 20 + Simple ctrls : 11 + Card29.Amixer.info: + Card hw:29 'ThinkPadEC'/'ThinkPad Console Audio Control at EC reg 0x30, fw 77HT28WW-1.02' + Mixer name : 'ThinkPad EC 77HT28WW-1.02' + Components : '' + Controls : 2 + Simple ctrls : 1 + Card29.Amixer.values: + Simple mixer control 'Console',0 + Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined penum + Playback channels: Mono + Limits: Playback 0 - 14 + Mono: Playback 2 [14%] [on] + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) + Package: alsa-driver (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + LANG=en_US.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 + Tags: maverick + Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare vboxusers + dmi.bios.date: 11/19/2005 + dmi.bios.vendor: IBM + dmi.bios.version: 77ET42WW (1.05 ) + dmi.board.name: 252902U + dmi.board.vendor: IBM + dmi.board.version: Not Available + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: IBM + dmi.chassis.version: Not Available + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnIBM:bvr77ET42WW(1.05):bd11/19/2005:svnIBM:pn252902U:pvrThinkPadZ60m:rvnIBM:rn252902U:rvrNotAvailable:cvnIBM:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: + dmi.product.name: 252902U + dmi.product.version: ThinkPad Z60m + dmi.sys.vendor: IBM ** Attachment added: "AlsaDevices.txt" https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/646569/+attachment/1640680/+files/AlsaDevices.txt -- Sound card not detected in Ubuntu 10.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646569 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
