Public bug reported: I am trying to use the current Ubuntu 10.10 beta of the netbook edition inside a VirtualBox VM, but the netbook UI session doesn't get loaded, Instead just the default wallpaper is shown (without mouse cursor) and no system activity happens. The system itself is not frozen though, I can CTRL+ALT+F1 my way out, stop gdm and even successfully start a GNOME session with "startx", so it doesn't seem to be an X server problem, it's just the netbook UI session that is unable to load.
Reproducability with LiveCD: - Boot the Ubuntu 10.10 beta Netbook Live CD inside a VirtualBox VM - Select "Try it out" instead of "Install" (installing works fine) - experience the freeze Reproducability with installed system: - Install Ubuntu 10.10 beta Netbook edition from the Live CD inside a VirtualBox VM - when the freeze happens CTRL+ALT+F1 to console and run "apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade" to update the beta with a lot of more recent packages - reboot and still experience the freeze If there is some log files you might need, please tell me what I should provide. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- netbook UI doesn't load https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644899 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
