Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file

I'm an upstream maintainer of file. I am working on co-ordination of
Debian and upstream. I have to speed things along just applied all the
current Debian patches to upstream CVS.

I was a little dismayed to find that there are patches in current Ubuntu
file that are 6 months old and have not yet hit Debian.

Now, really, I do not mind whether you feed your patches to Debian, or
directly upstream. Probably via Debian is better, but if that doesn't
work for you, please do send them to the file mailing list or directly
to the maintainer, Christos Zoulas, at the addresses given in the
README. But please, don't wait for either upstream or Debian to come to
you.

If there is some particular reason that you've not been able to feed
patches upstream, do say so, and perhaps I can help.
