Just in case it helps - I had the 141 error too trying to install kubuntu 10.10 daily build 20 Sep into a virtualbox VM. I think the Disk setup has not got permission to create partitions. Lack of "sudo"?
Boot the live CD and open a terminal sudo partman and then go through, auto creating partitions and filesystems (but you might want to be a bit selective).
