This is definitely a move in the wrong direction. It should be up to the users to define the content of the signature of their e-mails. Ubuntu has nothing to do with the contents of it's users signatures! If it would be relevant for the user to have this kind of information in the signature, the user would add it himself. I don't think that this even should be an option to add this kind signature.
Advertising should be done elsewhere, not in users e-mails.
