I'm also getting this problem. However, I have 2 SATA drives in the system. One of them is actually an IDE drive with an IDE->SATA converter. And of course, it's this one Ubuntu is on. The other disk is detected by Feisty (in rescue mode off the the Beta CD) but the IDE drive with the converter is not. However, both are detected by the Edgy CD in rescue mode.
