well, that... "did".... "something"... On a second note, it might also be related to a gstreamer-plugin. Sometimes, when I restart gdm to get my system working again, I have two significant problems: One is a missing audio output in pulse-audio (my system has two: one HDMI-out and an analog jack), where I can't see the audio-out in the overview of the sound-applet anymore. The other is the unability of playing video at normal speeds in flash and totem - VLC works fine, though (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nspluginwrapper/+bug/630134)
