I'm trying to think back to when I was testing some earlier xorg packages. If xorg got uninstalled at that point, would it have taken 'discover1' with it (if the auto-removal stuff what used).
One key thing, when I did further --purge/reinstall cycles with 'xserver-xorg' to diagnose this, 'apt-get' was not pulling in 'discover1'---I thought it now pulled in Recommends: by default? -- discover1 did not get installed for xserver-xorg autodetection https://launchpad.net/bugs/98648 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
