Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic
1. Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat 2. Synaptic: 0.63.1ubuntu13; apt: 0.8.0ubuntu3; aptitude: 0.6.3-2ubuntu3 3. When locking a version of a package in Synaptic or holding it with aptitude, I expect Synaptic, apt-get etc. not to want to upgrade the package. 4. I compiled the Ubuntu 2.6.35-20.29 git kernel with a few config tweaks. Of course, I didn't want it the be "upgraded" with the stock version in the repos, so I tried locking the packages in Synaptic and holding them in aptitude. No dice. Both Synaptic and apt-get want to upgrade the packages. The closest I've come to success is using the echo <package-name> hold | sudo dpkg --set-selections trick. Then apt-get shows the packages as being withheld (probably only until a dist-upgrade, though), but Synaptic still wants to go ahead with the "upgrade". I distinctly remember locking/holding working before, so I'm tagging with "regression-potential". ** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: maverick regression-potential -- Synaptic/apt-get wants to upgrade locked/held packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/631530 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
