I managed to connect while using WEP! - First try to connect the WEP protected wi-fi network providing the correct shared key. It fails but save the WEP key in the local keyring. - On your modem, disable WEP protection. - Connect your PC to the now unprotected Wi-fi network. It connects. - Now, re-enable WEP protection on your modem. - The PC disconnects and reconnects to the protected network using its previously stored WEP key. It works (even after a shutdown)!
