I opened "Sound Recorder", "Pulseaudio Volume Control" (from the package pavucontrol) and "Rhythmbox" (to provide a sound source).
It's actually somthing I should have put in papercuts that I don't see a way to select the input device from within "Sound Recorder", but none the less... Start recording in sound recorder... and verify that there is input from the microphone... all is fine. In PA Volume Control, select the "Recording" tab to see which applications are recording, and change the device which sound recorder is taking input from, from "Internal Audio" which is the default input device IE, the internal microphone... to "Monitor of Internal Audio" which should be a copy is what is being sent to the speakers... Play sound in rhythmbox to test... at this point you can see that nothing is recorded, and the level meter in sound recorder (as well as the one in the "recording" tab in PA Volume Control) all remain at 0. If you do this in Lucid, you are able to record from software which is outputting... which is extremely useful, but in Maverick it fails silently. Hope this is enough information... if you need anything else, please let me know. ** Attachment added: "Attempt to record monitor of rhythmbox playing, log." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/625983/+attachment/1529196/+files/pulseverbose.log -- "monitor of" input in pulseaudio not working in Maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625983 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
