The others are lost.

A number of points come to mind:

- lpr (the failure of which brought me to this point) and lpstat should
moan if the lpoptions files reference non-existent printers.

- they should fail in a manner which tends to work rather than not work.

- old lpoptions files, especially /etc/cups/lpoptions, should be
sanitised by cups on package upgrade and configuration

- the conflict between ~/.lpoptions and ~/.cups/lpoptions needs to be
analysed and resolved
