I found the following error in my .xsession-errors: gnome-session[4032]: DEBUG(+): GsmAutostartApp: starting 1017a6a257dbb2e409126402743584376800000016950022.desktop: command=/usr/bin/compiz.real --sm-client-id 1017a6a257dbb2e409126402743584376800000016950022 --ignore-desktop-hints --loose-binding move resize place decoration animation ccp startup- id=1017a6a257dbb2e409126402743584376800000016950022
This prompted the workaround: ln -s /usr/bin/compiz /usr/bin/compiz.real And minimal research shows that compiz.real disappeared from the package with 10.04 So now compiz starts up properly. -- [nvidia] Window manager does not start, must run compiz --replace https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/597765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
