Public bug reported: Feisty beta locks up a Benq DD DW1625 DVD writer when using usplash at startup. Boot process hangs about 10 sec., then continues: Dmesg shows:
[ 236.663247] hdb: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error } [ 236.663251] hdb: status error: error=0x00 { } [ 236.663253] ide: failed opcode was: unknown [ 236.663255] hdb: drive not ready for command over and over. Found this not happening when starting up with an open tray (so the drive is reset after control is passed from initrd to the actual boot process) or not using 'quiet splash' as boot parameters. Drive is locked, neither reacts to 'sudo eject' nor pressing the drives eject button. Compare to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux- source-2.6.15/+bug/48186.
