@Paul I have tested what you said but unfortunately I'm bug triager and I do not have the problem on my system. If you are very sure where the problem is and what the problem is, go ahead with providing code..
As far as I know, this bug is in linux kernel as the kernel is not detecting the touchpad. The drivers(synaptics) are same for all touchpads but it loads only if the touchoad is recognised by the kernel. If you can somehow make the kernel detect your device, you are almost done.. Please specify, if I can be of some help to you.... Also, as far as i think the problem is behind the HAL. I'm not sure whether the HAL is a part of kernel or outside, but surely the problem lies behind HAL.. -- Alps touchpad detected as ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse(in VAIO E series) after the kernel upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/565543 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
