Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When switching to battery power on my laptop, I get a popup requesting my root
password to give gnome-power-manager super-user rights so that it can run
/usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper which would decrease my screen's
brightness to conserve power.
When I replug my power cord, I again get the popup asking me to authenticate,
even if I just authenticated mere seconds ago.

The same occurs when I'm idle for a couple of seconds and "Dim display
when idle" is checked. This happens on both AC and battery power. Every
idle-event requires a new authentication, which gets to be rather
annoying.

Temporary workaround: uncheck the "Reduce backlight brightness" and "Dim
display when idle" options.
