OK, thunderbird runs fine, since I left these packages installed. With
the installation, these packages were updated and upgraded.

But one strange thing remains: everytime, whe I do update or upgrade
since this time, I get this message from the updater: Fehlschlag beim
Holen von http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-
daily/ppa/ubuntu/dists/lucid/Release Unable to find expected entry
deb/source/Sources in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)

so I did the command you wanted me to do, and here is the result of dpkg
-l | grep thunderbird:

and...@andrea-desktop ~ $ dpkg -l | grep thunderbird
ii thunderbird 3.1.2+nobinonly-0ubuntu1~umd1~lucid

and...@andrea-desktop ~ $

can you read anything out of this command, what could cause this strange
message??

Greetings
