Well, using a Thinkpad x200 I am observing the same problem (when idle again fan does not reduce its speed).
Unlike in the comments, I was not hit by this issue until now. It worked the last two versions before lucid fine. And under Lucid there was not a problem until the last apt-get upgrade && reboot.
