I have tried a few things in the sources of consolekit but unfortunately installing my new deb can make things worse "sometimes" (i.e. X refuses to start every other time or so, even if I make no changes in the sources). Maybe some config files are not properly cleaned up during the upgrade? Well, I don't know what's going on there but I'll continue to probe. In the meantime if you have a specific fix to suggest (code?) or even a .deb to test I'll be happy to stress-test it a few hundred times to see if it solves something.
